Volunteer Columbine

I had a to do list on this rainy morning so I hopped up early and got started. First, I fed the birds including a refill in their three suet holders. We have this “wild” columbine in bloom in many flower gardens. Next, hubby and I had a quick breakfast. He was in the color corps for a Knight’s funeral. I stayed home since I really did not know the young man. I believe his brother went to elementary school with Kristen. I packed for my WV trip. We are leaving mid-day Easter Monday. I filled all the Easter baskets and finished making the two ornaments. My sister and BIL stopped by to drop off a huge jar of potato soup. Our BIL made it but their appetites are non existent with their illness. They decided to share with us. The inhaler and cough medicine with codeine have really helped my BIL but my sister feels worse. We recommended she go back to urgent care. After they left, I made a grilled chicken and cheese salad for lunch. Still hoping to lose more weight now that I am on a roll. Hubby got back home and had a late lunch before going to the base to pick up our meds and purchase a gift card for one of the Easter baskets. I will get the last three on Thursday. I have to get the roast and veggies on to cook. But that is it. Our evening will be work free. Wishing you a break also. Stay safe. Thanks for your visit.
“With his long narrow beak he drank
drawing out nectar from a flower
it was an Eastern Red Columbine,
an Aquilegia wild desire ...
Nature was singing a sweet refrain
sending sunshine to my visitor
with wings spread he extracted,
using a tubular beak and tongue;
He was a welcome guest
inside this beautiful garden
From a latticed gazebo I espied
as he took delight, in every sip.”
