Offa’s Dyke and Monmouth
Several hours wandering around the farmland and Offa’s Dyke this morning, with Dippy enjoying a foray into the surrounding woodland. The constant hum of traffic from the A40 several miles away is made slightly more apparent due to its concrete surface.
A pair of Yellow hammers and plenty of other birds weren’t particularly perturbed by the traffic noise.
After a good breakfast and hot shower Monmouth was our first stop of the day.
An interesting town with pleasant architecture but as with most towns patches of retail decline and traffic congestion within its main streets.
Free parking alongside the River Wye allowed us to get to know the area without worrying about a parking ticket.
An interesting vegetarian lunch was expensive but enjoyable for the conversation and banter.
Dippy wasn’t too impressed by the lack of anything that had originally had a heart beat.
Heading for the next air b&b in the forest of Dean.
