Irises after the rain
The irises in our alley are in full bloom. It rained heavily during the night so they looked rather wet. I took Mrs TT in to town for her dental appointment and then went along to the art group. Our teacher was there today giving advice. There were just three of us so we got lots of individual attention and we were discussing the uses of AI in developing and refining ideas for painting. Interestingly, someone I know who writes poetry, asked AI to set one of his poems to music. When I listened to the song that was produced, somewhat in the style of George Brassens, I could not tell that it was AI generated. It was really rather good. However, AI will not replace creativity. I read the following exchange between Keanu Reeves and Elon Musk.
When asked whether AI will surpass human creativity, Elon Musk responded with a clear: “Sooner or later, yes. Machines will create art, compose music and tell stories – better than us. ”
Keanu Reeves, who briefly remained silent, then took a deep breath and said:
“But will a machine ever know what it feels like to miss something ?
Or what is it like to create something beautiful out of a moment of sorrow?
Creativity does not arise from calculation but from experience, pain, love, and hope. ”
