Monster Mushroom

Well the rain that had been forecast for today appears to have been delayed..and is now scheduled for tomorrow..I blame Trump’s Tariffs!!

Instead we have had more sunshine .. with some cloud.

I decided to walk in the woods this morning and I am so glad I did, as I found some of the old faithful fungus, Dryad’s Saddle, growing on felled tree trunks.

The cap in the main blip is approximately the diameter of a tennis ball…but these can grow huge…30 cm (1 foot) is not uncommon and they can get to 60cm!!

There were lots of them about..added a couple of extras..in the first one, the cap is about thumbnail size. The second extra is of some ‘in-between’ ones, growing close together.
