On Some Days

And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda . . .

. . . The Pogues

Another wall to wall sunshine day to go for a drive in the area south of where we live.  We went up Pigeon Valley Rd and along Dovedale Valley to the Motueka River.  We saw old kilns for drying hops and modern hop sheds and paddocks of hops that have been harvested.  Sheep are grazing the grass now.  This blip at Kohatu was where we stopped for a cup of tea.  Then onto Lake Rotoiti to see the mountains and the eels by the wharf.  I took the standard photo looking along the wharf with the forester and Jennie posed at the end.  An asian gentleman took his shoes off and waded into the lake to feed bread to the eels.  They took it from his hand.  There could have been fifty of them writhing around.  certainly the most I have ever seen. I clicked away with the camera.  His wife was filming it with her phone.  I checked the back of the camera to see if the photos were okay. I get home and put the card in the laptop and no photos.  Bad words were said.
Deep breath and moving on we had the experience and not every experience has to be recorded.
P.S Monday  The clever Ian at the photo shop in mt little town recovered my photos from the corupted card.  Yee ha, now you can see the eels.
