Brough Castle

Whilst we have been very fortunate with the weather this week, there has been a chilly breeze to accompany the bright sunshine.

Today though, the breeze was absent and the true warmth of the day was allowed to show itself.

I was tempted to do something else today, but I think we were all tiring and were ready to return to our home, so we were up and away in good time.

Travelling on a Friday is always fraught with peril, but the roads were largely kind to us with only a bit of congestion on the A66.

To break the journey up a little, we stopped for a picnic at Brough (pronounced “bruff”) Castle and took advantage of the opportunity to have an ice cream from the well placed cafe.

It was nice to get home though and have a little wander into town for some bits for tea. Even had a bonus wander along the river and up the castle later that evening too.

There’s no place like home*.

*Particularly one with WIFI. The lack of network connectivity has meant that I have been an even worse blipper than usual. Apologies!
