Phamily and Phriends Phriday

I should have days off more often when it's nice outside!  A relaxing morning was had doing washing up and listening to some of an old Scottish Roadscast episode, and then it was map time to look at motorbike parking opportunities across town.

About midday I pop-bang-popped on the forever-nameless Africa Twin over to Mum and Dad's, and together we drove to a nice restaurant between Currie and Balerno for a not-Christmas Day lunch, making up for last year when everyone had bad colds.  I had a halloumi ciabatta that was very good.  Boy Wonder had a micro-tantrum because of poor menu planning on the part of the restaurant, but perked up later on after demolishing an enormous bowl of chips and a big piece of cheesecake (that, shhh!, I helped him finish).  It was good to see my brother and s-i-l and her parents again.

Afterwards we drove back to Mum and Dad's, I mounted up and rode to Portobello to meet a tired out and stressed Random Colleague, maybe for coffee or ice cream, but the place was – as one might expect of a warm afternoon – absolutely stowed out.  So we walked the length of the promenade, found a bench at the restaurant at the far end and watched some wetsuited swimmers powering out really quite far to a buoy I guessed might be a good kilometre away.  We walked back along the beach to our rendezvous point; RC went back to his car and I walked along some more beach and then back to my bike to ride home the long way.
