Pocket Hug
Angela asked me out for a walk this afternoon and we did a circuit of the Moor in the sunshine. When we paused to go through this stile, she spotted a bag hanging from it, full of pocket hugs, small beautifully formed wooden circles with pocket hug inscribed and cards with thoughtful sayings. They made us smile, what a simple but kind thing for someone to do. I shall keep mine close until I come across someone who might need it.
Following on from yesterday's 'no further action' fiasco, I managed to secure an appointment with a different doctor this morning and was somewhat apprehensive about going. Tony came with me for moral support but, in the event we need not have worried. The doctor told me that the 'no further action' was the ambiguous wording used in the system and in fact my knee is suffering with osteoarthritis in three different places and calcium deposits under the patella. This means I am now in the system and referred to the 'Free from Pain' service. But what about that crazy wording? I wonder how many folks have just assumed nothing else could be done and not followed up their tests? Why not say, 'contact your GP for follow up?' Why also does the patient have to take the initiative? Surely it is not stretching the system to contact a patient when the test result comes in to make an appointment to go through it? Questions to answer. I have to say the young GP who saw me this morning was very thorough and kind. As we left she said, 'Well that was a nice appointment!'
