Backblip: Florence
I am here for a few days on a group tour. In the light of world events I was a bit concerned when I saw the complexion of the group - seven from the UK, six from the US (Texas, Kentucky and New York) and one Canadian. But no need to worry, it turns out that the Americans are all nice people, of a rational mind and embarrassed (and angry) about what their president is doing.
We start with a late afternoon walk to the British Institute, which is housed in a beautiful building overlooking the River Arno. We have an hour lecture on the birth of the Renaissance in Florence. It’s a beautiful evening, the reflections in the water along this whole stretch of river are fabulous.
I will have no time for uploading or looking at journals this week, so will have to backblip on my return home.
And ….. that tall tower in the background of the image is the campanile of the Palazzo Vecchio, on which the clock tower of Bradford town hall is based.
