SAVE us?

The Republican-controlled House (aided by four turncoat Democrats) today voted for the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. The legislation purportedly aims to block non-citizens from voting, something which is already illegal and very rare.

It will put an undue burden on those who have changed their last names from their birth certificate because it will require the provision of additional documentation to show the link between the birth certificate and the current name. It goes without saying that this mainly affects women voters — the majority of which took their husband’s last name.

And we all know that the more onerous one makes a process (additional steps and/or documentation), the less likely one is to complete that process.

Once again, women are specifically targeted by this regime (as a group we now form the majority of voters) and once again, the Repugs are attempting to stack the deck in their favor (or is that “rig the elections” as they like to say when they lose?)

I can’t stand these people.
