I woke with no plans but knowing that this spell of good weather will only last until the weekend I knew I should make the most of it.

I packed some food and drink, set off about 8.30 and drove to Troutbeck. There’s a walk up the valley I’ve done several times. Nice and level, and quiet too.

It’s the longest walk I’ve done for many months . . . about 5 miles, though my phone said 6.

I watched Paddington in Peru in the afternoon.
