London Bound
We left Yorkshire for the capital this morning for a couple of nights for P's birthday. The train down was very chill, and arriving in London we went to the Freud museum whch we kind of had to after spending the last 3 years thinking about all things psychology.
The museum is in Freud's London house where he lived for a few years after escpaing the Nazi's in Germany. There was an exhibition on about Freud and women and it was interesting in reading some of his correspondance with women throughout Europe, many of whom were pioneers in analysis and pscyhology themselves. The study is where Freud analysed his patients and the original couch is there for you to look at (plus a replica upstairs that you can sit on). It was intersting as counsellors and psychologists are often taught today to have their client space as a bit of a blank canvas, but Freud's study was full of historical artefacts and books and very much showed his personality and interests. Interesting place. P bought quite a few books!
After Freud, we headed across the city to the Premier Inn in Hammersmith and had some very good pizza in a very quiet pub. The guy behind the bar seem worried that all of the customers had dissappeared. Afterwards, we headed to the riverside and found all the customers packing out the riverside bars enjoying the last bit of sunshine for the day. We had a stroll across the Hammersmith bridge which seems to be in the midst of turning into a bikes and pedestrians only route, and then wandered along the river, noting the very posh accents and thinking it must be a nice place to live if you have a lot of money.
