Forlorn!
I went out with a specific photograph to take. Got to the Wood and found that the shot I had seen during the winter was unattainable — nettles up to 1.5 metres tall made the approach to the proper viewpoint impossible.
I looked round and saw this poor blighted and very dead tree, and was moved by compassion to take its picture and give it just a little moment of online display.
Then I noticed that, dead though the tree was, there were mosses and lichen thriving on it, and I bet there were a good number of invertebrates hidden within. Life goes on…! And I celebrate that — and the tree's memory.
