Hope Springing
To avoid spending 24h in the house, I spent 2 minutes forest garden bathing - doing my best to ignore all that needs doing. Plenty of pretty flowers in bright sunshine, of course, but this scruffy scene was my highlight. The winter storms of 2023/24 blew the tree-guard off the 2 metre-high sapling, of which this is the lower trunk. The muntjack found it tasty and barked it, as you see.
We left it for 2024, hoping for some kind of resurrection, but nothing was visible down the tube. This winter, we dug it up and replaced it with something else. We brought it home, intending to toss it into green recycling, but decided at the last minute to stick it in an empty pot 'just in case'. So, the life force is strong - that's a healing message. Today, I'll take it
