Darwin’s birthplace…Shrewsbury

We are staying near Shrewsbury so went to the town today. I did not know that Darwin was born there and went to school there. The shopping centre is actually quite modern. A town of many architectural contrasts..castle, very old black and white buildings, a 1960’s Market building etc.

The extra shows the NT barn we are staying in. It was converted only about 3 years ago so is very well laid out and furnished. We went to the Attingham NT which has a great playground , lovely gardens and a huge cafe in the stable yard. We may go again later in the week to go round the house.

Another lovely sunny day..a bit chilly until about 19.30am. Nice to see lots of lambs in the fields nearby.
