Gifts from Blip U(niverse)

When I got back to my apartment, I found a gift from CaliforniaGirl1—a copy of a painting she made of her son’s wedding, an Easter card she made and printed, two beautiful dish towels, and a large chocolate bunny that will either go to Evan or Sue, whoever claims it first.

What a wonderful surprise! Thank you, Renate! Her note describes her work as  “naive or folk art,” which she feels is more popular in Europe than in the USA, though I immediately think of popular American artists such as “Grandma” Moses and Clementine Hunter. Renate says now is a  good time to “turn off the TV and paint again,” and I agree, although I don’t have her painting skills.

We had glorious weather for the protest on Saturday, but it started raining on Sunday. We went to music performances with Sue's relatives Saturday night and Sunday, and it’s still raining as I post this. I love making photos in the rain--great reflections--but I am lazy to gear up for going out in it, so I’m grateful to Renate for sending me something to Blip. I’ve added a couple of extras of the march on Saturday and a link to Donna Pollach’s very powerful and important work  on the Friday post. The link gives access to the exhibit. I met Sue when we were both in our 60s, so I didn’t know the young woman Donna photographed.
