Made to measure….
Another dry spring day , but still a chilly East breeze .
Cattle fed , then a trip to the airport to drop Littlemiss off. She’s away with some Uni pals to Brussels for a few days . It’s nuts , but the return flight cost £60 , the return bus from the airport into Brussels is £30…
Set about giving the lawn its first cut of the year this afternoon. By the time I’d blown up the flat tyres on the lawn mower , drained the engine oil as the float on the carburetor had stuck open and flooded the sump with petrol, found some oil as the 45 gallon barrel on the stand was empty, and got it going again it was tea time before I got everything cut. Once I’d fed the cows again , took the dogs and Mrs F for a walk down to the quarry to measure the length of the new hedge and where they have taken more land off the fields as I need to know the acreage to deduct when I complete the IACS form later this month. This is an annual task where you have to register the exact area you farm and what crops it is all used to grow.
