Purple for Lent

Holy Trinity Church Barrow upon Soar where the choir and chancel are illuminated with purple light to remind us that this is Lent, the period of fasting leading up to Easter. I feel this was a richer parish than that of St Botolph's in Shepshed. There was more ornament and it's a larger church, though still medieval.

No purple light at Shepshed. The altar cloth is purple and that's it. It will be removed to reveal a plain altar on the day after Good Friday.

I was there with Charnwood Voices to rehearse for the concert in the evening (see extra or at least it would be if blipfoto would let me upload it. It did, eventually).

We sang the first half better than the second. This is the reason why I abjure wine in the interval. I was pleased to be home before 10 pm. Very many thanks to Gail for the lift.

Len told me it had been a warm day and he had enjoyed his tennis. Basil had enjoyed lying in the sun.
