Finishing touches

I headed home this morning, because I had to get back for the final session of the pottery workshop. The train very efficiently delivered me in Narbonne for 10:30, dead on time, and from there I shopped in Decathlon and then drove to La Redorte, arriving exactly as midday struck. I went into Le Spot, the restaurant by the canal; there were only two people in there, but all the tables were reserved. "You can sit on the terrace," suggested the owner. The weather was not great, but I checked it out and decided it was acceptable because it was closed in by means of plastic sheeting, keeping out the worst of the wind. Scarf and hoodie donned!

Sure enough, it was very busy, full by 12:30 with many other people eating on the terrace. 19 euros for three courses of not fancy but well cooked and copious food was good value -- I'd go there again.

We had to decorate all the pieces we've made over the previous three weeks. This is not my strong point, and it's really difficult to envisage what it will look like because the colours aren't remotely the same as they will be when fired. We only had two and a half hours to do it ... I spent ages on my fruit bowl and then did fairly slapdash jobs on the rest. When I got to the two pots I threw last week, inspiration failed and I decided to leave them plain white, despite efforts from Frédérique to persuade me otherwise. My blip is of J the cake decorator doing an immaculate job on her little house. Now we just have to wait for them to be glazed and fired.

I eventually got home at 5:30, having done a bit of food shopping en route. Not that I was hungry ... a slice of toast was enough!
