Drifts of wood anemones

A full on day which has prevented me from visiting your journals.

Early morning I started on the first clear out of the garage loading the car to the gunnels and going to the tip, recycling as much as I could. I was surprised and pleased that weed killer was accepted and dealt with properly.

There is now much more space in the garage with things organised into three groups; take with us when we move, take to charity shop, leave for next owner (ie spare wall and roof tiles.

After lunch we went up to Doreen’s house to assess the garden again. Despite being required to maintain the garden the tenants barely touched it in 3 years. It is a heart breaking sight with dead plants, overgrown shrubs and borders covered with grass.

It was Susan’s pride and joy and she is heartbroken and very angry with the tenants and with the agents for not holding them to account despite being asked to do so at each six monthly report.

We have complained to the managing director who, we hope will be more effective than the person we’ve been dealing with thus far. I know we can ask to use the deposit, but that is by no means guaranteed. And it could take several weeks to bring the garden back to where it was in 2022. We don’t want to have to do the work…. neither should we.

We want to get the house on the market as soon as possible yet are concerned that the state of the garden will affect the selling price and the impression on potential buyers. It’s another problem we could do without what with we need to do for moving up to Cumbria.

It’s a shame Wild Flower Week, hosted by Miranda 1008, doesn’t start until Monday. I will post it for Flower Friday instead.
