On yer bike

The first bike ride of the year today.  Not a long one; I need to get the rear end back used to the saddle again before I go too far, but enjoyable nonetheless.  I needed to dust off the bike and inflate the tyres but everything seemed to be working OK on both the bike and on me.

One of the things I enjoy about cycling is being able to get a much better view of the nature around you.  Because they don't generally see or hear you coming things haven't run away and hidden as you approach and you can look around more than when you are driving.  It's quite amazing how many pheasants there are in the fields and in the past I've had a couple of different types of deer amble across the road in front of me.
