Peacock Butterfly

Brian was meant to have an interview for another job today, but they called him this morning to say that they are putting the vacancy on hold for now as business has been slower than expected and they can manage without replacing the person who retired for now. They did say they would like to keep his details on file should things change in future though.

I have not dealt with any of the stressful stuff today, though I have sorted out an easier way to try to keep on top of it. I've also tidied up the front room, groomed Minstrel again as he's been moulting and keeps chucking up furball, washed my work hat, dealt with a few emails and been to the Co-op. Their jam offering is abysmal - there's cheap and nasty or stuff you need a mortgage for - no middle range!

As we had more time than expected we decided to go out to Fiskerton Fen to look for our Blips. It was a good day for it - though the breeze was cool the warmth of the sun made up for it. We had the whole place to ourselves today - did not see one other person all the time we were there.

At least that meant no-one witnessed us wondering what was the cause of all the caterpillar corpses we kept finding before we realised they were actually catkins... Or teetering on the narrow edge of a steep river bank to avoid either a very muddy section of path or a dip in the dirty looking stream...

I decided to Blip this Peacock butterfly - there were many on the wing, which was great to see. Only this one stayed still enough to photograph. There wasn't a lot else to photograph today. For me, if it hadn't been this it would have been the moon in the day or a thrush's anvil. Brian managed to get a shot of a green veined white butterfly

Despite the lack of photo opportunities it was a pleasure to walk in such a wild and natural place on such a temperate day.
