Losing Focus
An interesting day - you know, one of those days where you get a glimpse of how thin skinned Management can be.
There was a Town Hall at work today - where our Head Honcho was going to report all about yet another Culture Change at the company and how he sees the future. There were also happy-clappy pieces from new directors. All very jolly hockey sticks. Hugely positive atmosphere amongst those charged with leading the company into a bright and shiny world. And oh - if anyone has any questions, just drop them in the chat and we'll answer them later (they said).
The first tranche of about 10 questions that popped up were neither happy or clappy, but more of a critique of various points and pointing out the shortcomings of various strategies.
And then something very weird happened - there was, we were told, a problem with Chat and all those negative questions just disappeared.
None of the awkward questions were repeated and we went back to the hard hitting issues like "Which are cuter - baby rabbits or ducklings? & "Can you tell us your favourite colour?"
We're just a bunch of ingrates. We have no idea what it's like to the recipient of a huge salary and huge bonuses and enhanced payments into your pension fund - don't you know how much blood, sweat and tears goes into a presentation like this? Ok the blood, sweat and tears come from other people, but our CEO puts so much into appearing relatable and SMILING the whole time - that must be exhausting, poor lamb. He's stretched so far it's no wonder his skin is thin.
Weirdly my sympathy meter seems to be stuck at 0.
