Coniston 14

I'm not a massive fan of organised races: there's the getting there, the hanging around, the difficulties in getting your hydration right, and having to wait around for the loos. It's one big faff.

Sometimes, though, it's worth the effort because of the route, which, today consisted of the roads that go around Lake Coniston. Normally these are so busy with traffic that it would be madness to try and run along them.

And the other mitigating factor today was Hannah's company, which was a delight as ever.

And the route was wonderful. Not too hilly and beautiful scenery everywhere you looked. The weather wasn't bad, either. It rained a little bit towards the end, but it really doesn't matter by then.

We finished in a good time, two hours forty-eight, and after the inevitable queuing to get away, were home mid-afternoon to freshen up before we went down into Kirkby Lonsdale for celebratory drinks and a curry!
