The view from the edge... .

..of the village and the road.
The picture shows how quickly the snow is melting. If you have a big screen you may be able to see a lot of newly arrived birds, down at the bottom of the valley. Cranes, swans, geese, and a big flock of some kind of dove.  They seem to love the edge of the melting snow so I guess some really tasty tit-bits appear as the ground thaws.
We decided to start some form of training for our autumn walk along the South Downs Way in England. We packed a small picnic and walked down past the lake, up the other side and into the forest. We ended up at an old disused farmhouse where we found a place to eat the picnic. (See Jan's blip for photos.)
On the way home we watched two cranes wander out onto the ice while doing their very distinct screech.
Another very lovely day!
