Happy Mother's Day...
Agnes, Adrian, D and I were unaffected by the loss of an hours sleep by getting up an hour later than we normally would, which meant brunch rather than breakfast or lunch :-))
French toast with bacon and maple syrup and lots of tea and coffee. Lovely :-)
Agnes and Adrian left and we had a leisurely afternoon. I got lovely smiles and was allowed to steal a kiss from Alan to wish me Happy Mother's Day but he didn't want to pose for a photo. I also got lovely flowers and chocolates. Lucky me :-)
D had booked Mother's Day dinner at the Cairn for 7pm and although I was looking forward to it, it took a bit of effort to move me from my comfy chair at 6pm to go upstairs and get ready, although I was really looking forward to wearing my new necklace, which arrived today.
Last year friends gifted me vouchers from the very talented jeweller Ruth Morrison. Ruth is from Scalpay on the Isle of Harris and makes the most exquisite jewellery using Harris Tweed. It's taken me over a year to decide what to buy and in the end I chose the Luskentyre rock pool necklace and I am absolutely delighted with it.
Ruth also repurposes jewellery and I have been in touch with her about jewellery that belonged to my mum that I never wear, and I am meeting with her mid-April to give it to her and discuss what she can do with it. I am really excited to hear her ideas.
We had a lovely time at The Cairn as always. Warm welcome, delicious food and a lovely atmosphere. Chatting to the restaurant manager we were delighted to hear they'd had a really busy day. Fully booked for lunch and dinner. I am sure the chef was looking forward to the end of the day. The photo of D in my blip makes me laugh. It looks like he's dozed off but he was looking longingly at his starter whilst patiently waiting for me to take the photo :-))
After a lovely sunny day, it was a lovely evening and we enjoyed the short walk back home. It smells like spring.
Still can't get used to Mother's Day without my mum, Gran and Mum L. Missed every day <3
