Sally Mair - Loving life

Mothering Sunday

As our sermon described today, the 4th Sunday of Lent is known as Mothering Sunday and commemorates four different mothers, the Mother Church, The Virgin Mary, Mother Earth and Creation, and our own mothers. I was reading today, but it was the gospel today which caused amusement, the Parable of the Prodigal Son, a story about a father and his two sons - not a mother in sight.
We remembered to put our clocks forward, so of course I didn't sleep well, why does that always happen?
We had a quiet afternoon, I did some weeding out the front and some spraying where our wall meets the pavement, weeds always proliferate there and I've tried all sorts of ways of getting them out even boiling potato water, but nothing works and my wall gets more and more damage. Today I tried the gentlest weedkiller that I could.
After lunch and my garden weedings I took to my bed to try to catch up on some sleep. When I woke up we had a call with our friends in RI planning for Colin's visit there next mouth and their visit here in May. Things are looking a bit clearer now.
Kathryn came to see me this afternoon and we had a lovely chat over tea and buns.
This evening the second episode of the latest Strike series.
My blip is from the garden. Some of my lovely daffodil varieties including a separate picture of the miniature, if you look closely you'll see that one of the stems is indeed multi headed as I thought. There's a snowflake growing behind it - like a snowdrop but different. The red camellia was a gift from my sister for our ruby wedding, almost 10 years ago.
