Grumpy Old Man

Lovely old cars

Another beautiful day! My nephew came round to pick me up in his Austin 1100 and we set off to visit a small classic car show beside the Thames near Walton Bridge.

A great range of wonderful classics, some very old, and some not so old, but this one, whose name meant nothing to me - and I've forgotten it anyway - was one of my favourites. My extra is of another beauty, an Austin Seven EA Sport, with an amazing exhaust system!

We later sat beside the river enjoying coffee and bacon baps before setting off for a walk along the river and over to Desborough Island, separated from the river by an artificial channel. The island hosts a huge water treatment works as well as a couple of football grounds.

Back to sister's then as my nephew had to go to work this afternoon - he's a train driver.

Sister and I spent a couple of hours over the road with an elderly neighbour - he's 91 - who has had an amazing life in the RAF as a service engineer, spending a lot of time abroad.

Back to sister's for a cuppa out in the sunny garden with the cats!
