Goldeneye
See reflections on the water
More than darkness in the depths
See him surface in every shadow
On the wind, I feel his breath
Golden eye, I found his weakness
Golden eye, he'll do what I please
Golden eye, no time for sweetness
But a bitter kiss will bring him to his knees
And suddenly, it felt like we were flung straight into summer. The high temperature for the day would be around 72 degrees. It was breezy and warm. I put out laundry on the line, and it was dry in just a few hours.
If the turkey vulture had shown up on THIS day, perhaps it might have been spotted parading around the deck in our underwear, instead of merely flashing us: "See anything you LIKE?!?!!!"
In the afternoon, I hopped on my bike and headed for my favorite Barrens pond. I got there just as the amphibian researchers were leaving. I asked how things were going with the amphibs; they said good. The only mystery was who was chomping the tails off some of the newts!
The frogs remained silent for a long while, so I headed up to the second pond. Hung out a while, came back, sat quietly on the bank. And then I was treated to another view of frogfest, just like before. There were many, many frogs, floating on the waters, swimming, chasing each other, seeking romance, celebrating the day.
I sat and watched, as the frogs zipped on by. Sometimes one will come close enough that I can get a great view. Such was the case with the frog whose photo is posted above. It came right up to me, up close and personal. I snapped a bunch of photos. It seemed I could see the whole pond reflected in its goldeneye.
My soundtrack song is Tina Turner, with Goldeneye. Some of its lyrics appear above.
