George Hotel

Out first for a newspaper, and sourdough hot cross buns. Turned around to go up to George Street; the Edinburgh Book Fair was on .. moved from the previous venue on the High Street. The vendors were pleased; they'd had a lot of curious visitors and middling levels of custom. I bought a copy of 'The Grey city of the North', by Jessie M King, 1910 - an album of drawings of Edinburgh landmarks.

The wind got up as the day went on; by the afternoon there were squally showers as well as strong gusts. Walked through Stockbridge to Inverleith pond; the female swan was on the nest, with both a heron and the cob keeping company. More than a dozen tufted ducks and plenty of gulls. Rugby players having a good time with a small audience.

Back in by Dundas Street and Royal Crescent.
