Happy accident

Yesterday I noticed the fritillary had put up several stems, flowers not quite open yet - was pulling up some of the inevitable couch grass around them to give them a bit of space and accidentally pulled up a flower stem. Was a bit appalled, but brought it home anyway and stuck it in some water. Look - it's opened out delightfully! What amazing creatures they are.
