Bees at Floors

Today was our anniversary and roses always figure. So off we went to Floors Castle in Kelso; home of the Duke and Duchess of Roxburghe for a delightful lunch, a walk and a visit to the the excellent plant centre.

It is an impressive building - more a fortified house than a castle apparently - which remains a family home. We didn't visit the castle itself but it seems to have enough rooms for a fairly large family. The estate and gardens are remarkably well kept.

The shot is from one of the herbaceous borders around the garden. The bees were busy. I couldn't help contrast the scale of the castle and the estates with these bees and their own world of hives, honey and pollen. The bees will also find their own sustainable future.

We bought our roses which are waiting to be planted.
