Niki's Buddha

Today has been a long time coming. We've been intending to visit Yorkshire Sculpture Park for many years. It always seemed so far and/or there were many others things going on. Today we made it.

It is a glorious place. Beautiful and extensive grounds. In fact, we didn't make it all the way around! The sculptures are outstanding and many were familiar from photographs. And they have the space and a setting which they deserve. A thoroughly inspiring place.

Choosing a shot for a blip was hard. But 'Buddha' by Niki de Saint Phalle made an immediate impression which has lasted throughout the day. She completed it just before her death in 2002. I find it such a joyful, magical piece.

We shall visit more regularly.
