Deep-ish Purple
Close to the cottage is the garden of a long-since demolished hotel. It has,of course, run riot, and one of its splendours is an enormous buddleia, with flowers of the deepest, most spectacular purple. Despite 20 attempts, I know I have not captured the depth of that colour, so imagine this intensified ten times over and you are there. I intend to take some cuttings; Monty Don's advice has been sought and he wants stems which have not bloomed! Every stem on this tree has at least one bloom so I'll use the jettygirl tried and tested method instead: cut a chunk; stick in plant pot; over-winter in Arran.
