Windfall

An apple which has dropped from a tree near where I work. It's rock hard.

My 'media break' has been going really well and I feel better for not being immersed in Facebook, newspapers and Radio4 but just as I was leaving for work this morning Roland turned on the World Service which stopped me in my tracks.

Today is the anniversary of the atomic bomb being dropped on Nagasaki - shortly after the bomb on Hiroshima - and some eyewitness accounts were being broadcast.

I have read quite a bit about the atomic bombs, how and why they were developed and the aftermath and I never cease to be horrified.
