Alhambraview and Flamencoshow

Sunny and warmish, We went for a towntrip around the cathedral and bought a poetrycollection by Garcia-Llorca in a bookshop. Albaycín is the Jewish quarters climbin up a steep hill with very narrow passages, a must when you’re here. The goal was the viewpoint over Alhambra from one of the squares in Albaysín, opposite the huge cliff where Alhambra lies. Main. There is snow on the high peakes of Sierra Nevade this year, not a very common sight during these climate change decades.

In the evening we went to the Sacromonte area, where the Flamenco is said to have its origin. In the time of the Arab invasion of Spain, many other people also followed to seek their fortune, among them, the gypsies, who originally came from India and brought therir music. Through all the cultural mixes along the way, what is now called flamenco was formed. The gypsies, being very poor, lived in caves just ouside the city wall and in that area there are now a museum and lots of caves where flamenco is performed, mostly for tourists. I had booked a show at ”Cueva las Amayas” where we had a top class Flamenco performance. Extra.

Tomorrow morning we will finally get inside the Alhambra complex, one of the big goals of this trip.
