For Whom the Bell Tolls (MM583)
A film, a book, and, a poem ... for Mono Monday.
My blip is a bell wheel, which my neighbour has mounted on his garage wall.
This is the wheel a bell rope pulls on to get the bell moving.
More about the design here.
Probably quite a relevant poem given recent events?
For Whom the Bell Tolls: John Donne 1572 - 1631
No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thine own
Or of thine friend's were.
Each man's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.
Thanks to everyone for my birthday wishes yesterday - and for your favourites too - much appreciated.
