There used to be a lovely canopy of trees here, almost an archway welcoming you in. We’d heard that Mountstewart had lost around 10,000 trees in the recent Storm Eowyn, but it’s totally different to see the result for ourselves.

The shining water beyond the estate is Strangford Lough. These aristocrats knew how to claim a good location.
