For the family

The Stitch Festival

Back blip

A good breakfast to get ready for a demanding day.  This is the first time that I have been to the Business Design Centre for a festival in London, previously I been to the NEC in Birmingham, Harrogate, Newark many times and last year for the first time, in Uttoxeter. Rona Jnr has never been to one before, as she doesn’t do any of the creative crafts.

It was her idea to organise this trip for my birthday present. We’ve got VIP tickets, so in stead of joining a very long queue to get in, we were directed to the front of the queue, got our bag checked and had a coffee in the reserved restaurant area within minutes.

All of this a bit beyond my physical capabilities, so we are having to pace things out. We are meeting up with an old friend of R’s from Uni days, her mum and her daughter. We are having intermittent drinks and rest sessions with them, then visiting stalls and talks.

It’s awesome!!!  Even R who doesn’t do any of this has lined up new projects for me to do, for her!!

I saw Stuart Hillard, from the Sewing Bee near one of the Talks and approached to say ‘hello’, I was  involved in workshops with him in Lincolnshire, in pre Covid days. He saw me coming and gave me a warm welcome, I was amazed, as he must have met hundreds, if not thousands of people, and he recognised me!! Unbelievable!!! Our house has many crafted items inspired by him.

A great day. We stayed until after 5pm, then got dinner at Nando’s near Euston Station. I’ve never eaten there before, delicious, but such a large meal that I struggled.

The train home left at 8pm, a nonstop trip taking 1hr 20 minutes to Stafford. Home by 10pm.

There has been so much happening and to share, so expect me to revisit subjects in the next few days.
