Red eye
My final half day of the tax year. I've now used up all my holidays until April now. I think taking half days off on Friday so I can volunteer at the IT group is good for me.
I took the dog for his walk first thing, it was nice and bright. I then did my work in the morning - which was productive and I was able to do what I wanted and it all worked first time. My original code was little rushed, but on the previous phase I was able to clean most of it up and make it more modular. Now I'm making the third set of changes I've been able take advantages of changes I made on the second project to easily add new features without having to make radical changes which can be disruptive.
As usual we went for lunch at my mother-in-law's and then after lunch we went to IT where I was able to install Linux on a second Mac Mini and I took the third home with me to work on over the weekend. The IT President was basically happy with his PC now it's running Linux as it's much faster than Windows 10 and is fully supported.
After IT I took the dog for his long walk and then some pictures in the garden, where today's blip was taken. It's a red version of the orange one I did a few years ago, and appears to be all flower and very little plant.
After dinner I did the work on the third Mac Mini, and now all three are running Debian without issue. My wife will be able to use them with the students for the Raspberry Pi projects. The Mac Minis are much smaller than the Lenovo desktops, so much easier to move around and interestingly more powerful with higher spec CPU, a fraction more RAM and larger HDD. Unlike the desktops though the Macs can't be upgraded so we're stuck with them exactly as they are.
I've still got some set-up to do at the IT club, so I'll plan to take some more Friday afternoon's off to complete the tasks. There is only so much I can do from home. I could leave all the computers plugged in and switched on, but I'd rather not do that if I can avoid it.
