Mystery movie
Back today for the final two films of this year’s Hippodrome Silent Film Festival in Bo’ness, West Lothian. As ever, we are having a wonderful time at Hippfest.
During the festival, Karen, who owns local bookshop Inkspot and Silverleaf, makes a real effort to engage with film-related books, both fiction and non-fiction.
This year she’s come up with a mystery book idea whereby people have the fun of guessing the beautifully wrapped novel. All the novels in the packages became films. Once you have read the book, the final question is, which did you prefer?
I guessed correctly the wonderful Truman Capote novella ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ and I’m looking forward to deciding which I preferred. The novella will have to go some way to be better than the 1961 film starring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard. I’m not giving anything away, but there is a scene where I burst into tears … I like to show my emotions!
Well done to Karen in the bookshop, she works so hard to spread the joy of reading. Support your local independent bookshops.
By the way, today’s films are:
Smouldering Fires (1925)
Forgotten Faces (1928)
Have a good Sunday, all.
