Byōdōji
Today we walked from the bottom of Mt. Tairyūji to temple 22, Byōdō-ji.
We got there quite early, it was a beautiful sunny morning and this temple had a really peaceful atmosphere. There were coloured streamers from the main gate to the top of the stairs near the main shrine, and we stayed there a while to sit and write in our books. There was a man setting up a small shop, and we bought some coffee chiffon cake - so good we bought some more!
This picture is of the place where you wash your hands and mouth at each temple, after going through the main gate and before visiting the temple. This was one of the first temples were I had seen foliage and flowers in the water.
We added a diversion to see the okunoin to temple 22, Iyadani Kannon - we had the place to ourselves.
We climbed through some beautiful woods today, didn’t see many other people at all.
Today we walked about 16 miles.
