Ullswater

I’ve always felt a special affinity for Ullswater.

It’s one of the first lakes in the Lake District that I remember as my parents used to bring us on walking holidays to Glenridding; a small village located at the south end of the lake. Which is probably where my own personal love affair with the Lakes began.

Sometime later - around 2003/2004 - on a similar, but slightly warmer sunny day, I would propose to my first wife on its shores.

Just a few weeks back, I was here on a very stormy blustery day blowing away some cobwebs.

Today it was a location suggested by m’boy as a request to visit - which is a rarity in itself. As it happens it slotted in nicely with a visit to The Pot Place in Penrith, where we unsurprisingly purchased a couple of pots.

Then it was a van picnic before a bit of shoreline exploration. Today’s photo was taken by m’boy who as I stood admiring the view asked me to pass him my phone as it would make a good photo.

It was the nicest thing he’s done all day, as he’s been quite irritable all day - maybe it’s the school trip catching up with him….?

Further down the lake we stopped in Glenridding for a quick wander and over our heads flew a gyrocopter (extra - you may need to zoom in).

Back home we got a couple of chores done, which included the collection of a sofa from my sister for the back room and then we headed up to my parents for a very nice couple of hours, intermittently watching England just miss out on the Six Nations.

Apologies for being a rubbish reciprocal blipper lately and hope you are all well!!
