A time for everything

Homeward bound!

Monday 10 March
We enjoyed a good breakfast at the hotel before heading to the airport about 9.30. It was a fairly short drive to the airport and didn’t involve taking on the M25 traffic, so we were soon there, handed in our rental car, and took the shuttle bus to the airport. The three of us were taking the same Delta flight to Atlanta, which would be Jen’s final destination, while we would have a second leg of the journey to Cincinnati. It was a pretty full flight, and left about on time. As you can see from my collage, it was a grey morning in London as we took off. Our flight took us over Ireland, then across to Newfoundland and Canada, and then roughly following the east coast down to Atlanta, passing quite close to New York - you could see the Hudson River and the skyscrapers in the distance. Interestingly, in Atlanta they split the final destination and connecting passengers before you reached immigration and customs, so we said our goodbyes to Jen at that point. We had to collect our bags, go through customs, where nobody paid us any attention (!), and then recheck our bags. We had time for a drink and a sandwich at the airport, as we had missed our afternoon snack on board, as we had some turbulence during the last part of the flight. By the time we got home, it was about 3am according to our body clocks, so it was straight to bed!
