For The First Time
That’s it, rehearsals are over and our audience awaits. In thirty seconds time we will leave the darkness of the wings and head out on to the stage.
And that waiting audience is about to see something that has never been seen anywhere in the world before.
Okay, as world firsts go, the performance of the first night of our play in front of 170 or so people is not going to change a lot of lives, but it still feels a bit weird being part of something that has never been seen before, and only existed as words in a script and a vision in the director’s head until a few weeks ago.
I reckon we did the first half as well as we’ve ever done it. Which may have made us a bit complacent, as there were a couple of missed lines in the second half - one of them mine!
But audience feedback was very positive, with many compliments on the acting and the cleverness of the plot.
Just need to repeat it all five more times now…
