Lake District: Harrison Stickle

Wainwright once wrote that stairs were for going up to bed not for climbing mountains. I wonder then what he would think of the stairway to Stickle Tarn and the stepped paths in other areas of the Langdale Pikes. These paths however were being seriously eroded and " engineering" them has been the solution. The ascent of Harrison Stickle is still a classic Lakes walk and we had an day of ideal weather today. This is a view of Great Langdale from the summit
