Survival Kit...
Another three library books came off "hold" today - on top of the three I picked up a few days ago and only one of which I have managed to read!
But in this world of chaos, one needs an escape from the media in order to retain one's sanity. Books for me provide that, and security is having a whole pile waiting to be read... which I now have!
I started My Father's House today and am really enjoying it - the writing is great - a style I like..sharp dialogue with some dark humour and quotable phrases! Detail piled upon detail...and it still flows!
It is the first in a trilogy. The second book is Ghosts of Rome which I am tired of waiting for at the library and have purchased! It seems that Book #3 is not written yet?
Other than reading and trying to avoid CNN today, I made an outing to pick up those books on hold at the library and to shop for treats for the book club meeting at my house tomorrow morning - our meeting about the book I did not finish reading! Oops..Oh well, at least I will have yummy treats on offer!
PS: The saga continues: More horror stories from across the street. My neighbour D just can't win...The Home Care plan for her husband with Alzheimer's (and pneumonia) is falling apart with a PSW who today went outside the house, leaving her husband unattended in the washroom, did not feed him his lunch and never got around to shaving him - in two hours! ...this was the two-hour block that she had arranged so that she could get out for groceries! Seems she cannot even trust that he is looked after while left "in care"? What next?
