Farm Welding 101

flux core wire welding, aka "spit" welding, makes a mess with spattered flux and molten metal bits splashed about. I should break out brother Dan's MIG machine but I need to go get shielding gas, and the machine is very heavy to lug out to the field. 

Note the burnt grass underneath the work area. 

When welding it is nice to keep a fire extinguisher handy and to have a spotter so you know when your pants are on fire....ask me how I know....
