Quay Arts

We took the bus into Newport and walked down to Quay Arts. We saw the terrace umbrellas and couldn’t resist sitting outside for lunch. PY had some beetroot falafel, but I stuck with a BLT panini. It was delicious, even though it was a little cold. There was somebody with a portable karaoke machine across the water who then decided to turn it on. I guess it could have been worse!

Upstairs to see ‘Out On An Island: Pride In Self, Pride In Place’, an exhibition celebrating 20 years of LGBT History Month in the UK, focusing on the Isle of Wight. The highlight was the LGBT Memorial Quilt, inspired by the AIDS Memorial Quilt, created by the Isle of Wight community. Later, at Waterstones, we bought Out On An Island: The Isle of Wight’s Hidden LGBTQ+ History; People, Places, and Real-life Stories. It was shortlisted for the International Book Award 2023.

We went to Morrisons for some Isle of Wight produce to add to a present for T. When we took the bus back, we stopped at Dill & Pickle for some local cheese. We almost booked for their jazz evening but, in the end, booked for dinner at the Thai place.

Between returning home and leaving for dinner, I fell asleep for an hour. I can’t work out if this is a continuation of my illness or if I am just tired. I woke to Liza Tarbuck on the radio, who made me laugh with stories of stowaway animals.

Dinner was delicious. I had the duck green curry, but I had to leave some of the rice because I couldn’t eat any more. I am unsure why I felt so full, but it doesn’t bode well for my night-time heartburn.

We watched another Prime Target before retiring.
