Close to the edge

A couple of months ago, we delivered three of Ellen's sculptures to Newby Hall in North Yorkshire for their summer contemporary sculpture 'walk'. Today we travelled down to see them in exhibition.

They had done a wonderful job in presenting them on the walk. Each had been placed on block of wood so they were raised above the ground foliage at a good viewing height. The pieces are all in welded mild steel and the rusting and rusted complimented their backgrounds very well. They had been given fresh life in their new woodland setting.

The piece in the shot 'Close to the Edge' was particularly well placed. We turned a corner and looked down on it - a new angle for us. It was surrounded by lush green foliage which gave the metal a green sheen and, appropriately, was positioned close to a small lake.

Ellen felt pleased to be part of this. And there were a number of really good pieces.

As we walked on, a young boy confirmed to his mother that it was indeed a sculpture. He had decided this on the basis that it had a label!
